A name to remember: Patrice Lumumba
An indelible figure in the history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is Patrice Émery Lumumba. Born Isaïe Tasumbu Tawosa, Lumumba was a Congolese politician and independence leader. Serving as the inaugural prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from June to September 1960, Lumumba played a pivotal role in the early post-independence period.
